Polonnaruwa

                                                            Polonnaruwa is an ancient city. It is over 800 years old. King Parakrambahu the 1st king who build his royal palace there. It is now in ruins. But the walls are still standing in pride. If you go there you can see the ruins of kiriwehera  rankoth wehera gal viharaya and You could see the large statue of sleeping Buddha. One talented sculptor has carved every fold of Buddha's robe even the mark of his head is there on the stone pillow.the Parakrama samudraya is the king Parakramabahu's great creation. This is the tank that help farmers to irrigate the whole Polonnaruwa district.
